We viewed our beloved Villa Tesori as Cinderella, pre glass slipper. Lisa wanted to keep the island theme in mind during our update. I wanted to make it more energy efficient and lower maintenance (I now realize there is no such thing as lower maintenance at VT).
We effectively remodeled VT over the past 18 months. New furniture, Internet, appliances, paint, decorations.....there were interior doors on the exterior, you get the idea. The door to the apartment had a 3 inch gap above it. The gazebo was gutted and updated with granite, wolf grille and outdoor ice maker and fridge.
During our house hunt we kept seeing Schnell lighting and fixtures. Don Schnell has a studio is located at the Amore center in Cruz Bay. They appealed to us as they kept with the island style, while fitting with the colonial style of VT.
Don agreed to come to the house and give us his ideas. We decided to start with the exterior fixtures as they were the basic builders grade and were in need of replacement. Some were broken and we could not find replacements.
With Don's help we replaced all the exterior lights on the house with his stylish island pieces. We also replaced the CFL bulbs with warm LED ones. To us the change in atmosphere was amazing. We later replaced the gazebo and post lighting with that of Catherine Perry, which we will cover in a later blog.
