Early morning snorkeling is our usual activity. Arriving at the beach as there is enough light to see usually means you have the beach to yourself. I hadn't gotten to snorkel as much last trip as we ran the 8 tough miles, well walked most of it, but we finished.
We were all out at dinner Wednesday evening (Vista Mare-LOVE IT!!!) and the wine was flowing. Tom and I were discussing where we wanted to go snorkel the next morning....and the girls decided they wanted to go as well (did I mention the volume of wine consumed?) The girls might have over imbibed (duh), but Tom and I thought ok wheels up at 7:15. After a few guy smirks we said, no worries, we will wake you up! Which led to the next mornings conversation between Lisa and Annie..."this sounded like a much better idea last night."
We all piled into the Jeep and drove to Maho. The beach was completely empty at 7am. Dropped our chairs and towels on the beach and hit the water. It didn't even take 50 feet until we saw the first turtle. For the next hour it was non stop turtle mania. I have never seen so many at once.....I had been following one and he led me to 3 others...Video below. One of them darted off before the camera started rolling.
Glad we made it, but never again" Apparently hangover over rules turtles. No matter, Tom and I will be back!!!
