Our friend Julie Downard happens to be dating Shaibu Abdulai of Oasis Private Chefs. We asked if it would be possible to have him cook for us at VT. He called us back and we arranged to have dinner at 6:30 after sunset.
Lisa and Shaibu created the menu. They came up with a Tropical gazpacho, salad of local greens with grapefruit and citrus dressing, fresh snapper, surf and turf and a chocolate dessert.
Shaibu arrived at 4pm with Julie, whom was there to help. Julie works at Morgan's Mango, one of the local restaurants in Cruz Bay. Tuesday is LOBSTER NIGHT. Yes, capital letters, lobster night at Morgan's Mango is an event. You will likely find more locals than tourists on lobster night. If you want a great lobster dinner, book a reservation early. We appreciated she gave up her most profitable night to visit with us, so of course we plied her with wine until she agreed to watch the sunset and visit with us.
After the Tropical Gazpacho, Lisa looked up at me like a little girl who lost her puppy. She had eaten all of hers and stolen the balance of mine. Finally she told us that it was better than chocolate. High praise from a girl who calls Hershey the "Mother ship."
As the night moved on and each course was presented, I became more excited. The food was great, but I am the guy who works backwards.....dessert is my goal. I was almost bouncing off the walls waiting for the chocolate. And it was amazing. Molten chocolate happiness and for some reason Lisa would not share hers with me....
For the rest of the week Lisa would occasionally blurt out "Gazpacho!!!" She now says it ranks above Chocolate. We have pictures of all the food except the Gazpacho....someone attacked it and forgot to take a picture...
We are back in the land of ice and snow in Pennsylvania. Lisa is back to counting down wakeups until our return to our happy place. I have been informed by the High Command that Shaibu will be a recurring event at our pilgrimages to Villa Tesori. All good with me as long as it involves the chocolate dessert of happiness!!!
Shaibu comes to the Villa. Cooks, serves and cleans up afterwards.
